Cal Fire Urban Forestry Grants
CAL FIRE announced the solicitation of the Fiscal Year 2019-2020 Urban and Community Forestry Grants, including the Urban Forest Expansion and Improvement, Urban Forest Management Activities, and Urban Wood and Biomass Utilization grant types. Please see the Urban and Community Forestry Grants Page for grant guidelines and a link to the concept proposal online form. Be sure to read the grant guidelines before you attempt to fill out the online form.
Information on qualifying projects is available in individual Procedural Grant Guidelines and will also be provided at workshops planned for areas around the State and via webinar. Specific information about these workshops will be shared on CAL FIRE’s social media accounts and on our grants page.

Urban and Community Forestry Grant Programs The purpose of CAL FIRE’s Urban and Community Forestry Grant Program is to help create a sustainable urban forest and increase the long-term benefits trees provide, improve the public’s understanding and appreciation of urban trees, and advance urban forest management and tree care. The California Climate Investment is a statewide program that puts billions of cap-and-trade dollars to work reducing greenhouse gas emissions, strengthening the economy and improving public health and the environment – particularly in disadvantaged communities. California ReLeaf Urban Forestry Grant Information
California ReLeaf seeks and provides pass-through grants to ReLeaf Network Members and other community groups interested in planting and caring for trees in California.
Funding is available to assist nonprofit and community-based groups throughout California with urban forestry projects. The program is funded through a contract with the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE).
NUCFAC Grant Information
The National Urban and Community Forestry Advisory Council (Council) serves to advise the Secretary of Agriculture on the status of the nation’s urban and community forests. The Council seeks to establish sustainable urban and community forests, by encouraging communities of all sizes to manage and protect their natural resources. Well managed urban forests provide critical environmental services that can improve the public’s health, and well being; economic viability and restore functioning environmental systems for people today and future generations.
Through the U.S. Forest Service’s Urban and Community Forestry competitive Challenge Cost-Share Grant Program, the Council only supports urban and community forestry projects that have national or multi-state, significance in their impact or application.
