Dr. Rich Thompson
Dr. Rich Thompson is our resident economist. He attended Oklahoma State University where he earned his B.S. in Forest Management and M.S. in forest economics. While working at Texas A&M he earned his Ph.D. in natural resources economics.
Dr. Matt Ritter
Dr. Matt Ritter has a B.S. in microbiology and a Ph.D. in plant biology. He has authored numerous scientific papers and botanical treatments, including the second edition of the Jepson Manual, the Flora of North America Project, a natural history guide to San Luis Obispo plants, and a book on cultivated trees in California. He is a botany professor in the Biology Department at Cal Poly, SLO, Director of the Cal Poly Plant Conservatory, Chair of the City of San Luis Obispo Tree Committee, and editor-in-chief of Madroño, the journal of the California Botanical Society.
Dr. Walter Mark
Dr. Walter Mark's main focus is Forest Pathology and Entomology. He attended Utah State University and earned his B.S. in Forest Management. He then received his M.S. in Forest Science and Ph.D. in Plant Pathology at Colorado State University.
Mr. Jeff Reimer
Mr. Jeff Reimer has a B.S. in Forestry and Natural Resources Management and an M.S. emphasis in Urban Forestry. He enjoys working on urban foresty projects and provides technical support for UFEI's online resources. He is a member of the Southern California Chapter of the Society of American Foresters, the Central Coast Urban Forestry Council, and serves on the California Urban Forest Advisory Committee.
